How fitting that the final post of the year focuses on culture — for as famed management thinker Peter Drucker remarked, “Culture eats strategy for breakfast.”
Nothing else matters if you can’t get your culture right. Everything depends on it: performance management, diversity and inclusion, recruiting, retention, engagement, productivity, wellbeing, compliance, leadership…should I keep going?
A lot of people certainly publicly agree that culture is of paramount importance, but I’m not sure they believe it. Their actions can sometimes suggest otherwise.
Yet even if you are a culture champion, it can be tricky to figure out exactly how to nurture your culture, let alone change it. This is perhaps HR’s greatest perennial challenge. I hope you are up for it as we gear up for a new year!
