How about this recruitment ad:

Been Out of Work for a While?
Then We Want to Talk to You!

Just because a person has gaps in their employment history or has never worked are the worst  reasons possible to not consider them for employment. These groups include:

  • Retirees who have a wealth of experience, but think you think they’re “too old;”
  • Empty-nesters who have never held a paying job, but have all the talent, management, and organization skills it takes to run a household and raise well-adjusted kids;
  • Those who have dropped out of the workforce to care for someone who has now passed;
  • People who don’t look for work because they assume no one wants them because of a disability or the lack of a basic education.

As recruits become harder to come by, consider reaching out to these overlooked groups to find those among them with the attitudes it takes to succeed on the job.
