Hiring Wisdom: What’s the Answer Worth to You?

Jul 18, 2016

I was in a board meeting when a sales manager was asked the cost to procure each new account. Her answer was: “It depends. Do you want the $15,000 answer or the $5 answer?”

She went on to explain that she could task her staff with compiling and analyzing all the detailed data for several weeks or she could give a rough estimate based summary reports filed monthly.

So, when you have a question, take a moment to consider how precise the answer needs to be and whether there may be an easier or cheaper or faster way to get the information you need.
