Have you ever watched Undercover Boss on TV and been as astounded as I about how little the featured executives seem to know about what really goes on in their organizations? (You should read what John Hollon’s TLNT post said about it here.)
So, let’s not fall into the same sort of stupor.
If your recruiters and hiring managers are complaining about how impossible it is to recruit and hire good people, it’s time to pose as a job applicant yourself (or, go out and hire a surrogate) to walk through your system.
People with great potential are often screened out for the flimsiest of reasons, or great people don’t accept job offers because they were either treated in an offhand way, or, not sold on the idea that it would be a great decision to come work for you.
