It’s a commonly held belief that it’s a mistake to hire the over-qualified.
The reason most folks give me is it’s because they think over-qualified new hires will leave as soon as they find something better.
But what if they decide to stay? (It’s possible, so I urge you to consider it.)
And, even if they don’t stay, how many improvements, refinements, and other positive contributions will they make in the time they are on board?
(And, lest you forget, the qualified and even the under-qualified don’t always stick around.)
If you can hire more talent and experience for the same money, why don’t you?
