HR 101: A Free U.S. Resource for Small HR Teams

Are you an HR department of one?

 I don’t envy you.

If I were an HR department of one, I’d crash and burn. To wit, no one has ever accused me of putting the “human” into human resources.

I don’t know how you juggle so many balls at once. But, I imagine that from time to time you could use a little compliance help without having to pick up the phone to call an employment lawyer. Maybe something a little less snarky than this blog. And with fewer typos.

Voilà!

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is once again touting its Small Business Resource Center as a destination for “answers to common questions about your responsibilities under the federal employment discrimination laws.”

But, this resource isn’t just for small businesses. Among other things, you’ll find:

There are also a few links that direct you to the EEOC if you have additional questions or need training. The EEOC’s training module is strong. But, I’d be wary about sharing your workplace problems with the agency that is tasked with administering the federal anti-discrimination laws.

Otherwise, you can do a lot worse than this free EEOC resource.
