We’re rapidly coming to the end of our Ignite HR presentations from May’s HR Reinvention in Omaha, and I think you’ll agree, it’s been an interesting mix of subjects and insights.

Part of it, of course, is the unique Ignite HR format — five (5) minutes, 20 slides and exactly 15 seconds per slide, max — but another part is the very diverse areas that the speakers found to dig into.

Today’s presentation is pretty much defined by this message that caught my eye and has a prominent place in my notebook from the conference: You must be the change you wish to see.

“If only it were that easy”

Those words still stick with me today, more than a month after the event, and I think they have great application yo all we do managing a workforce and trying to drive positive, thoughtful change in our organizations.

However, those words in my notebook — You must be the change you wish to see — are followed by another sentence that ALSO sticks with me: If only it were that easy.

Yes, this is a VERY different presentation. Its titled Easy for Gandhi to Say,  and it comes from Broc Edwards, the Senior Vice President and Director of Learning & leadership at Extraco Banks in Waco, TX. See if you don’t agree.
